Block Island’s “Insider” Story Posters

Things every Islander should know about their unique little Island. Block Islanders designed and built, “THE BLOCK ISLAND BOAT. A “DOUBLE-ENDER”. The two masted sailing craft enabled islanders to launch and retrieve their boat every day back to the safety of the sand dunes. This was before our revolution, before there were safe harbors on the Island. Also called, “THE COWHORN”. The fleet of 48 boats prevailed until they were made obsolete by gasoline engines.
